Fred was my lovely older brother,he joined the Royal Navy when WW2 started,he was not even 17,
after one year he was put into the army as more men were needed, he was in the Buffs Regiment and
was sent to the front line in Burma.Our mum would never let anyone sit in Freds chair at meal times.
Luckily Fred survived the war, I can still remember the weird smell of his kitbag when he arrived
home.He married Peggy Crookall & had 1 son. Fred was a really happy guy, always smiling & joking. In
the 1980's his car was hit by a drunk driver, he was badly injured & never properly recovered. He
was visiting his son in Norwich when he passed away.
